LEVAUS makes handmade Tibetan and Nepali jewellery — natural stone, bead and worked metal, shaped by hand rather than pressed out by machine.
How it started
Ruba and Shahriar Zaman founded LEVAUS in 2022. It began as a small Bangladeshi business, built around a simple frustration: the ethnic and traditional jewellery they loved had almost no room in the mainstream market. What was easy to find was mass-produced. What was handmade was hard to find at all.
Later the family moved to New Zealand, and LEVAUS moved with them. The location changed. The philosophy did not.
What we make
Necklaces, strands and pendants in lapis lazuli, turquoise, red coral, amber, onyx and pothe bead, set in silver and worked metal. The forms come out of Tibetan and Nepali traditions — the heavy pendant, the layered strand, the bead worked smooth by hand.
We keep the range small on purpose. Each piece is chosen because it is worth having, not to fill a category.
Why handmade shows
Natural stone is not uniform. Turquoise varies in colour from one seam to the next; coral is never quite the same red twice; a hand-strung strand sits differently from a machine-made one. So no two LEVAUS pieces are identical, and the one that arrives will not be a perfect match for the photograph.
That is not a defect to be apologised for. It is the difference between something made and something manufactured, and it is the reason to buy this kind of jewellery in the first place.
